Hycolour 193 Durable Slip Resistant Coating Study - Wolverhampton Self Storage
Wolverhampton Self Storage has been offering a safe and secure storage solution to Business and Residential clients for the last four years.
It is ideally positioned close to the Black Country route with easy access to the M6 (via Junction 10) in the heart of the ‘Black Country’. It can offer a storage solution on a scale to suit both need and budget, from a single storage ‘cupboard’ to 25m2 units and pallet storage. All this is protected by state of the art biometric security equipment, whilst offering easy access around the clock.
The facilities are accessed through large roller shutter doors and loading bays. Clients and staff have the use of fork-lifts, trolleys and pallet trucks to help move stock and belongings. The larger facilities also have access for articulated lorries and vans. These areas are subject to high traffic and surface wear/damage. They are also in constant use and to deny this access could prove difficult for both the client and his customers.
Constant maintenance of low performing floor paints in two of the six loading bay was proving expensive and inconvenient. The remaining bay floors were bare smooth concrete. There was also a health and safety issue. The door ways are open to the elements, creating a potential ‘slip hazard’ should the surface become wet. The loading bays were painted a single colour with no demarcation zone for roller shutter doors, for fork-lifts or for other vehicles.
Wolverhampton Self Storage decided they needed a permanent coating solution to the problem of constant maintenance of the loading bay areas and at the same time address the slip hazard potential.
They approached Safe-2-tread Ltd to come up with some viable options. Safe-2-Tread Ltd is a Wolverhampton company that specialises in anti-slip coatings and solutions.
At the initial meeting with Wolverhampton Self Storage it was agreed that a premium product was required to meet the demands of durability, slip resistance, colour, cost effectiveness and importantly full cure times. Ease of floor preparation and adhesion were also concerns.
