Retroskid Blend of Glass Beads and Aggregate for Road Marking
- Class leading retroreflectivity
- Enhanced skid resistance
- Good retroreflectivity
- Balanced particle size for easy flow
- Can be applied using conventional mechanical application equipment or hand application methods
- Good embedment is easily achieved
Retroskid provides enhanced skid resistance and retroreflectivity to road marking materials in the early stage of the marking's life cycle. It should be used as a surface dressing on road marking materials whilst still wet. Trafficking will eventually expose the blend of bead and aggregate within the road marking material to give performance throughout the service life of the marking.
The types of road marking material suitable for use with Retroskid include:
- Chlorinated rubber based paint
- Single component epoxy paint
- Methyl methacrylate (MMA)
- Water based paint
Retroskid is a formulated blend of glass beads and highly skid resistant white aggregate which imparts excellent friction and retroreflectivity to newly applied road marking lines.
Retroskid is suitable for all types of road line marking coatings including thermoplastic, chlorinated rubber (CR) paint, methyl methacrylate (MMA), single pack epoxy etc. It imparts high retroreflectivity which makes the line more visible in vehicle headlamps at night whilst also giving enhanced skid and slip resistance, properties which are normally difficult to achieve together. As a result, the engineer can specify road markings to perform safel in the most challenging situations.
Retroskid is applied as a drop-on medium to the wet line before cooling, drying or curing, depending on which system is used. It is sold packaged in 25 kg approx. sacks for ease of handling.
All glass beads used in the blend conform to BS EN 1423 and the incorporated highly skid resistant aggregate is clean, graded and durable. This special blend has been formulated following controlled site trials.
